Krista, Where Have You Been?!

EEP!
Sorry for being MIA these past 2 weeks or so!
I just finished my first year of Animation at Sheridan and have been busy working at the residence.
Plus packing to go home... yep!!!
I'll be home Sunday so updates will be back on track by next week!

I'm working I swear!
(Me and Andrew)

Flour Sac and Panties

Well, here it is; my final for animation!
I'm not to sure how I feel about this one... I'm neither proud nor disappointed...
I don't know what it was about animating this, but I found that I kept running into little troubles here and there which at times made things a bit difficult.
Overall though, my animation made many people laugh which was my goal so I'm pretty proud of that!
If the time says 0:00, just hit play and it will start!

Enjoy ~<3

EDIT 1:
I didn't realize this at first, but the mannequin in screen right was cut off when I pencil tested this...
Godsh darn it! When the flour sac does that quick look up to screen right then back down to the panties it's because it was looking at the mannequin wearing the same pair of panties and looking "sexy".

Stuck ~ Cut-Out Animation

My final for digital class.
I have to admit... I'm not extremely proud of this animation.
With having to do this animation ontop of my animation final for animation class and other finals, Stuck didn't get a full 100% put into it.
Regardless of that negative point, I still enjoy watching this every now again.

Stuck features my personal character and this blog's mascot, Qwuzanku, spotting a cookie jar then getting her nose stuck in the bottle's top.
I used cut-out animation to complete this short and I love the overall appeal to it.
If the time says 0:00, just hit play and it will start!

Character in Environment

Here is my final for painting.
We had to design a background then place a character in it using a clear cell.
I decided to use bright vibrant colours for this painting since I haven't gotten much of a chance to do so all year.
I'm really happy with the final result and can't wait to get this assignment back in September!

Diagonal Pan

Here's my second last layout assignment!
This is a diagonal pan, excluding the field guides, of my character walking up a hill with a bag of berries.

TekkonKinkreet Freeze Frame Storyboards

This was probably my favourite assignment for storyboard class from fist year animation!
We had to do freeze frames from a movie/show of our choice and we were marked accordingly to how well our freeze frames worked together to tell the story.
I chose my favourite film TekkonKinkreet and decided to do a scene where there is interaction between 3 characters.

TekkonKinkreet is (c) Taiyō Matsumoto
These drawings were done by me based on what was being shown on the screen.
I do NOT take any credit for the original animation nor the original images used in the animation.

Blog Shout Outs!

As an artist, I believe that it is extremely important to support my fellow artists and their passions.
So I've decided that about every 2 months or so I'll post a few links, so shout outs, to some of the blogs/channels that I enjoy visiting and checking regularly.
Not all the blogs may be animation related because I do love a variety of different things!
If you have time, I'd really appreciate you checking these amazing people out!

So, here are my shout outs for April 2012:

Sean Phillips
http://www.youtube.com/user/TheSeanatronV2/videos
http://theseanatronv2.tumblr.com/
Sean is by far one of the funniest film makers I've seen around youtube and one of the funniest people I know ontop of that.
After watching just one of his videos, I couldn't help but go and watch the rest of the videos he's uploaded!
Each second was filled with something new and creative that had me at the edge of my seat in anticipation to see what would come next!
If you're looking for a good laugh, his youtube channel is the place to go!
Sean also has a tumblr that he updates very frequently with lots of "meme" images and viral images.
If you're a fan of sites like 9gag then be sure to give his tumblr a look as well!

Christine Biala
http://christinebiala.blogspot.ca/
Christine, one of my amazing classmates, is an artist that I've looked up to for quite sometime now.
She has one of the most memorable styles I've ever seen and I am always inspired every time I see her work.
Everything she draws has so much personality and attitude that her characters practically come to life before your very eyes!
Her sketchbook is definitely a sight to behold and if you ever get the chance to see it, prepare to be amazed!

Victor Robles
http://victor-robles.blogspot.ca/
Victor is one of my friends who got accepted into Sheridan's animation program this year.
His work... oh man where do I start? Victor's work captures movement so amazingly well that you'll feel your eyes just swim across his drawings.
His life drawings are one of my favourite things to go back to and check out because he has a very good understanding on anatomy, perspective and overall mood.
Keep an eye out for him next year! I guarantee you will see Victor's art all over the life drawing display!

Greg Fairey
http://gl1tch3d.blogspot.ca/
Greg is another friend of mine who got accepted into Sheridan's animation course this year.
Though I just recently got my hands on the url to his blog, I know this will become a blog I'll be visiting on a regular basis.
Greg is, by far, one of the fastest learners I have seen in a long time when it comes to art and he is extremely passionate about what he does.
His work continues to get stronger and stronger by each picture he draws and he is very strong in the sense of using camera angles to his advantage.
When it comes to the idea of story telling, Greg is the artist to look to!

Show Wiener Dog Walk Cycle

Phew almost there!
Second last animation project was an animal walk cycle.
I decided to do one of those fancy show dogs, more specifically a wiener dog.
I am extremely proud on how this came out!
The ears are a tad too crazy but it's all in good practice.
If the time says 0:00 just hit play and it will load.

Class Caricatures

This was my FAVOURITE life drawing class of all!
We were divided into small groups and drew everyone from that specific group.
In short, everyone was drawing about 7 times and we had 10 minutes to draw each.
It was really cool to see everyone's style and how unique each caricature was.

Toronto Zoo Drawings

Man I love animals!
Here are some of my sketches and studies from my most recent trip there.
(Including a title page! Ooo!)
We only had about 4h since we went with our whole Animation year so I didn't get as many drawings as I had hoped for...

Master Character Sheet - Popo

Here is our final project for our Character class.
This assignment was called Master Character Sheet which consists of 8 expressions and 8 poses, each reflecting the personality of the character.
Here we have my special guy Popo the Dodo bird.

Remember that kid in grade 1 that would always follow you around the play ground thinking you were friends?
The one kid that no one really liked?
The one kid who had way to much energy for his own good?
The reject who loves everything?

Yea that's this guy :)
